It happens in all programs although I've done my best to compensate with large margins.
The print queue and test pages are handled by CUPS.

Still having this problem, any ideas?

That's the problem, I haven't chosen any borderless settings, this is how it prints by default. (A4, Plain Paper)

Appears that it's ignoring what the application specifies.

Support for the dedicated black ink cartridge (PGI-5BK I believe) on the iP4300 would be great since I have lots of spares that need to be put to use.

My Paypal eCheque cleared this morning, and clocking in at 8 hours so far, hopefully mine should arrive soon.
