I downloaded the .deb and the naviagated to the tmp location and installed the libs and it said i already had them, next i did the install here is my terminal output.
dadwebb@Newsroom:/tmp$ sudo apt-get install libgtk1.2
Reading Package Lists... Done

libgtk1.2 is already the newest version.
0 upgraded, 0 newly installed, 0 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
dadwebb@Newsroom:/tmp$
dadwebb@Newsroom:/tmp$ sudo dpkg -i turboprint_1.95-2_i386.deb
Selecting previously deselected package turboprint.
(Reading database ... 88663 files and directories currently installed.)
Unpacking turboprint (from turboprint_1.95-2_i386.deb) ...
dpkg: error processing turboprint_1.95-2_i386.deb (--install):
trying to overwrite `/usr/bin/tpconfig', which is also in package tpconfig
dpkg-deb: subprocess paste killed by signal (Broken pipe)
Errors were encountered while processing:
turboprint_1.95-2_i386.deb

Hello,

I don't know exactly why the installation breaks. I suggest to download and install the turboprint .tgz archive instead which works as follows:

- download the archive "turboprint-1.95-2.tgz" - please save in personal directory (/home/username)
- open a terminal window
- the command

ls turboprint-1.95-2.tgz

should list a file named "turboprint-1.95-2.tgz" - otherwise please make sure that this file is present in the current directory.

- execute the following commands (your password will be requested):

tar -xzf turboprint-1.95-2.tgz
cd turboprint-1.95-2
sudo ./setup

I see this is an old topic, but I get the same error in freespire! I can't seem to get the .tgz way to work either. I'm pretty new at this so if anyone could offer assistance with either dealing with the error that comes up with the .deb package install or more detailed instructions on how to get the .tgz archive method to work that would be fantastic! I'm running the most up to date version of freespire (2.6.20). thanks for your help.

ok, never mind, I figured it out! :D Now I have other issues, but I'll see if it's already been covered in the forums before starting a new topic.
