Line skip issue with Epson 3880 printfab .9 windows 8

Post by PR1982 »

Problem : almost every print that i made of 16X22 or even smaller size i get a one or two blank line randomly in the print. Was this problem seen by anyone ?

Environment :
1. OS : Windows 8 64bit
2. Lightroom 4.2
3. printer Epson 3880
4. paper : Epson luster & BC Vibrant gloss

FYI : I don't get this when i print with epson 3880 windows 8 driver.

Hello,

could you please post a scan or digicam photo that illustrates the "blank line" problem?

Thank you for the the new scans. Is the white line printed horizintally (i.e. in the direction of the print head movement) or vertically (from top to bottom across all printed lines)? Is there any rule visible where these line are positioned, e.g. always same distance from top (in absolute or relative values?). When printing the same image twice (each on a separate sheet of paper), is the line only randomly present or always at the same position?

1. yes, the white line printed horizontally along the direction of print head.
2. the white line has been seen in every of the image printed of size 16X22 and few of the images printed 8.5X11"
3. However not able to see a pattern like the line is repeated after every defined widht (like 6" , 10" etc ).

I have 2 prints(16x22) in front of me, one has a 2 white line (center and corner). The other print only has in center.

I have no explanation yet. The following information might be helpful to explain or solve the problem:

- from which application program(s) did you print?
- how wide is the white line?
- does it have a sharp or soft edge?
- is the line really white or is it just an area where the image is a bit brighter (it is difficult to see that in your images)?
- does the printer make a pause or print slower at that position?

- from which application program(s) did you print?
PR : Lightroom 4.2, color management by lightroom
- how wide is the white line?
PR : Its like one hair line across the print (17" size of the paper). It looks like line skip and may not be white line.
- does it have a sharp or soft edge?
PR : Sharp edge
- is the line really white or is it just an area where the image is a bit brighter (it is difficult to see that in your images)?
PR : It looks like line skip, like the printer head skipped one pixel/dot row.(line)
- does the printer make a pause or print slower at that position?
PR : Good question, infact i was trying to figure for any abnormal noise or pause of printing and haven't not heard any. Also, its almost impossible when it happens by sound or looking at print head while printing.

Hi All,
Other Windows 8 users may provide your experience :)

After so much deliberation i made a print 17x30 on windows 7 with lightroom 4.2. Frustrating to see the white line right at center....No words to describe :(

I would caution printfab windows users with lightroom. Lets us know if you have been successful with LR and windows using printfab driver.

Just to re-iterate, i never had this problem with epson native driver.

Thank you for feedback and for the photos!

It might actually be a lightroom specific problem as the white lines haven't been noticed or been reported earlier. We will have to make some tests with lightroom.
