Borderless not working with Canon Pro 9500 mk II

Post by mr_spock123 »

Hello, I just discovered that the borderless printing function doesn't work on the 9500 mk II.

Printer starts moving like when it receives the print command but then just flashes the blue led and does nothing, it doesn't start picking up the paper and all.

If I select normal A3 without borderless it works.
If I select borderless A3 with any overlap value it doesn't work.
If I select any custom defined paper with borderless custom size doesn't work either.
Normal Canon driver works without problems.

If I try to select the borderless function with the Canon Pro 9000 mk II it works into printfab too instead.

The bug is with the 9500.

:(

There's something I can do to fix it? Thanks!

Hello, the reason is probably:
The Canon PIXMA Pro 9500 MKII allows borderless printing only for glossy paper, not for matte coated or fineart paper.

This is a restriction of the printer, unfortunately the driver user interface does not block the combination of matte/fineart paper and borderless page size.

Oh I see yeah in my tests I actually setup it as fineart. There's a media setting that I can use as alternative for print borderless with matte black? Plain paper maybe? But in that case I guess PC, PM, GY, R and G inks would not be used.

I just checked Canon's specification and also the original Canon Windows driver and found that it is not possible to use Matte Black in borderless mode.

So the only workaround is to select "Glossy paper" if you want to print borderless. You can create a color profile, e.g. with our profiling service to improve color quality, however black will not be as deep as with Matte Black.
