Severe slowdown of Libreoffice/Openoffice after TP installation

Post by timur_davletshin »

I have following problem:

System: Debian 9, Intel, 64bit
Additional information: user has got no administrative privileges (not like additional user account configured during installation).
Once I have TP installed I start getting severe slowdown in opening of some menu (not all) items both in LO and OO. E.g. Format -> Character... I takes about 10-12 seconds to open it. Without TP installed it takes less than a second in cold start conditions (I use SSD). No visible iotop or CPU activity.

I think it maybe linked to the problem filed here earlier when printer was visible via Gnome printer configuration utility (and I'm able to print) but not for TP utilities. This problem remains unfixed and behavior is the same both in Ubuntu and Debian.

Thanks in advance.

Hello,

I just tried to reproduce the problem under Debian 9 x86_64 but everything works fine here - the "Format -> Character" dialog comes up instantly in Libre Office Writer. Also the printer is visible in TurboPrint Control after installation - strange...

I am not sure if the problem depends on how the printer is connected - can you post the "URI" as visible in TurboPrint Control, column "URI"?
