Printing CD and head cleaning

Post by tpcug »

Using
Canon Pixma ip4500
Turboprint 2.05.1
Gimp 2.4.7
Mepis 7

When I print a CD/DVD the printer goes into a protracted series of head cleaning routines, spits the CD tray out several times before deciding to print.

I have the media set to printable cd and use the default settings (600 dpi etc)

I also have a windows machine and while there is a cleaning routine it is no way as much as in linux.

You can almost see the ink level go down.

Any suggestions welcome.

Hello,

the printer driver doesn't (and cannot) call any cleaning sequences in the printer - the printer firmware decides if it is necessary to clean the print heads before a job is printed. In my experience there is no difference in the printer's behaviour when running under Linux or Windows.
