SOLVED: Canon i550 Blinking LED for a while, but no printing

I got the following problem with my Canon i550 Printer:

Whenever I try to submit a print job, the LED begins to blink, showing that data is transferred to the printer. In my browser in http://localhost:631/printers/ I can observe how the print job seems to be accomplished, the percentage slowly rising up to 100% but without any real printing activity. When 100% are reached, the LED stops to blink, but there is no printout.

There is no entry in /var/log/cups/error_log and /var/log/cups/access_log gives only messages that seem ok. to me:

Code: Select all

- - [16/Oct/2006:19:07:57 +0200] "POST /classes/ HTTP/1.1" 200 221 CUPS-Get-Classes successful-ok
localhost - - [16/Oct/2006:19:07:57 +0200] "POST / HTTP/1.1" 200 377 Get-Jobs successful-ok
I'am using a debian unstable (kanotix 2006-1-rc4) and the latest turboprint cups 1.2.4-2+b1 and KDE 3.5.5

I once had similar problems and seemed to be able to solve them downgrading gs-esp, but this doesn't seem to help right now.

EDIT: Stupid me: I had messed up my printer settings. I just went to KDE Settings => Printer Settings => Printer Manager => Server and put 127.0.0.1 in the "Host" field. Now my Canon i550 works like a charm.

The LED blinks if the printer receives data that are not printer command codes.

You could send the last section of the file /var/log/turboprint_cups.log, i.e. the part between "new print job" and "end of print job".

turuboprint_cups.log

(log file result removed - was not relevant for the problem)
