Hi

I have downloaded the 30-day trial version of TurboPrint because HPLIP does not fully support the DeskJet D4260. I was hoping TurboPrint might be better. OS is Linux Mint 12 Lisa.

So I downloaded turboprint_2.26-2_i386.deb, ran dpkg -i turboprint_2.26-2_i386.deb as root, ran turboprint as normal user, proceeded until I came to add a printer.

DeskJet D4260 is not on the list. I sort of expected that. But is this printer similar enough to one of your supported printers, for me to use TurboPrint?

Or is this printer just a paperweight?

Frank

Hello,

we have no experience with the HP DeskJet D4260 printer yet. You could try one of the TurboPrint drivers, e.g. the "HP DeskJet 515x".
You can use the TurboPrint 30 day trial version for your tests which is available for download at http://www.turboprint.de -> link "Download".

D4260 and many others consumer HP Deskjets are so-called LIDIL-printers, they're using a light-weight firmware together with software part. Thus far, a proprietory plugin is used both in Windows and OS X driver. To be able to archieve this in Turboprint, Zedonet devs would need to do massive reverse engineering and reimplementing of HP's PhotoRET technology.
So, no LIDIL printer is supported in Turboprint...

You are probably right, the DeskJet D4260 is not compatible with one of the TurboPrint drivers for other HP DeskJet printers.
