Hello,
i'm going to make some tests with Epson r2880 and PrintFab driver soon. My goal is to get proof that can be FOGRA39 certified. I choosed Epson Standard Proofing Paper that is FOGRA certified and has perfect substrate reads (95, 0, -2). If this test will sucseed the next step will be simulation of FOGRA28 and some other print profiles on the same paper. I use i1Publish Pro and i can make my own profiles.
I have some questions:
1. Creating profile (i1 Profiler) of my printer shoud I make RGB or CMYK profile rather?
2. How many patches will be enough for high quality profile?
3. When printing test chart should I use standard windows printer driver or PrintFab driver with intent: no correction?
4. What kind of paper shoud i choose when creating new printer profile in PrintFab driver? There are no such a Proofing Paper there.
5. Color adaptation: Reference Light is default set to D65, while i1 Profiler and ather software use D50 as default. What setting is better?
And one general question:
Does PrintFab drives real CMYK inks or all data is being converted thru L*a*b* space? This is important for overprints simulation.

Adam
Epson r2880 as proofer
Re: Epson r2880 as proofer
In a meantime i did some tests with other printer, Canon Pixma 9500Pro mkII on Mac and finally got my goal! As for now i'm really glad, but I will try trim profile to get better accuracy. Could you answer my 4, 5 and final question from previous post please?

Re: Epson r2880 as proofer
Hello,
thank you for your feedback & inquiry. Here are my answers:
4. for proofing paper, choose "Glossy Paper". Even if proofing paper is semimatte, the coating is comparable to glossy / semiglossy photo paper.
5. set "reference light" to D50 to minimize delta E values
When using the PrintFab R2880 printer driver, all data is being converted through Lab space, i.e. no overprint simulation is possible.
