Cups keeps detecting my Pixma MP150

I have installed your turboprint software and registered it. It works very well and print quality is very satisfactory.

But ... each time I turn on the printer, cups detects its presence and wants to install a driver, which is not at hand in the standard repository. It is a solution to click away the wizard, but it's very annoying.

Can I somehow tell cups to stop scanning for new hardware or tell it that the printer already has a driver installed?

We experienced a similiar problem on Fedora Core 4, where the notification on new printers can be switched off using the command

Code: Select all

chkconfig cups-config-daemon off
However, this is Linux distribution dependend - which Linux distribution are you using?

I experienced no such problem on our Ubuntu 6.10 installations. Does it help to select a different printer driver so that the dialog doesn't come up any more?
