If your printer is not visible in system report, there is very likely a hardware problem, e.g. a defective USB cable. I recommend to try with a different USB cable and if possible also to plug into a different USB port on your Mac.

Can you please check if the printer is visible in macOS "System Report" and send a screenshot? You can open the system report e.g. from the pulldown menu "Apple" -> "About this mac"-> button "System Report...".

Hello, it is no problem to use TurboPrint in a "headless" Linux system wihtout a graphical user interface.

Hello, TurboPrint (version 2.56-1 and higher) includes the driver "Canon MAXIFY GX1000 series" which should work with the printer Canon MAXIFY GX1020.
