TurboPrint, Salix OS, and Epson Stylus SX425W printer.

I have installed turboprint-2.21-1 on a netbook with Salix OS 13.37 LXDE, but receive the following error messages: # ./setup

(turboprint:3343): IBUS-WARNING **: The owner of /home/user/.config/ibus/bus is not root!

(turboprint:3343): GVFS-RemoteVolumeMonitor-WARNING **: cannot connect to the ...

TurboPrint and Salix OS

I have been using TurboPrint on my netbook, which has had Xubuntu 11.04 installed on it. I am considering switching to Salix OS, which is a Slackware based distro, and I am wondering how I can install TurboPrint when it is only available as an .rpm or .deb file.

You can add the printer manually:

"Printer is"="standard printer"
"Choose port"="Other"
"Other port"="bjnp://<ip-address>".

It works :) Is there any reason that the printer IP address should change, and how do you make it static? I have run into problems before where the IP address would change ...

If the printer is connected to your wireless network, it should be autodetected by the BJNP network and should then be visible in TurboPrint Control center when adding a new printer.

You can execute bjnp also from command line (applicaiton "terminal") by entering

/usr/lib/cups/backend/bjnp
(64bit ...

Hello globetrotterdk,

probably the network address of the printer is wrong or not reachable from your Linux system.
You can check that with the terminal command (from a shell window):

ping 192.168.1.103

Press Ctrl+C after some seconds to stop the output. You can see if the printer replies or if ...

Canon PIXMA iP5200R AWOL on wireless home network.

I am using the turboprint_2.16-2 driver on an Ubuntu Lucid system. My Canon PIXMA iP5200R printer prints when connected with a USB cable, and also works with a wireless connection from my wife's Windows XP laptop. Unfortunately, it refuses to print from a wireless connection with TurboPrint on my ...

TurboPrint solution for Linux on PPC?

I am disappointed with OS X Leopard performance on my G5 1.8 Ghz. Mac
and rather than re-installing OS X Tiger, I have installed Ubuntu 8.10
Intrepid Ibex. I was hoping to find a TurboPrint solution for the PPC
architecture, but was disappointed to find that there is no TurboPrint
solution for the ...

TurboPrint 1.95 and Ubuntu 8.10 derivatives.

I am testing TurboPrint 1.95 with various Ubuntu 8.10 derivatives - #!crunchbang linux, OzOS, Xubuntu, Linux Mint, etc. Printing works fine when printing a test page, but I am able to print anything from a word processor or any of the small GUI notepad style editors such as Mousepad, Leafpad, etc ...
