Thanks for the reply and the list of library dependencies. It is clear why turboprint did not work after I had replaced the library libpng12.so.0 with a later version, since turboprint makes a call to this specific library. That was the only dependency I had altered, and restoring this library resto...

I made the correction to the magenta setting and I found black was also incorrect. I am baffled as to how these settings were changed. I had also found that the contrast had been reduced to the minimum value. Installation of the Ubuntu 9.10 upgrade could affect f-spot, but not turboprint. In any cas...

I have done the procedure you suggested and sent the print.log file to you by email. The descriptions of the tests are included in the email.

Thanks for the reply. As far as I know all the settings in turboprint were unchanged from their values under the Ubuntu 9.04 version of the operating system. The possible exception was that the contrast was set at its minimum value of 50%. The print came out in shades of magenta. It was as if only t...

Upgrade to Ubuntu 9.10 caused incorrect colors in photo prin

After upgrading to Ubuntu 9.10 from 9.04, photo printouts have incorrect color reditions. The printer is the Canon PIXMA MP970. A printer test page and a printer nozzle check showed no anomalies. The photo printed correctly on the same printer from an apple machine with the Canon driver. Turboprint ...

scanning on the Cannon MP970 printer

I want to scan a photograph to a file on my PC using TurboPrint on the above printer. However, in searching the menus in the TurboPrint Control window, I could find no scanning procedures. Can I scan and create a file with TurboPrint?

Ok, I tried the process of setting the page size in fspot as 4x6 before initiating the print sequence, and the picture printed fine with a border. The choices available for the paper size are limited in fspot, and there is no provision for chosing, say, "borderless 4x6", at least there was...

printing with Canon PIXMA MP970 printer

I installed TurboPrint 2.11-1_amd64.deb on my machine running Ubuntu 9.04 with the following results. 1. Picture processing now only takes 30 seconds vs. 6 minutes in the previous version of TurboPrint and vs. about 10 seconds for the Windows driver provided by Cannon. 2. However, the formating stat...

ubuntu 9.04 problems with photo printing.

Thanks for the heads up. I will download the new version of TurboPrint 2.11 tonight and give it a try. I appreciate the fact that the problem was addressed immediately and apparently a fix has been obtained.

Thanks for your prompt reply. The application I used to print was f-Spot that apparently was bundled with the Unbuntu linux. By what factor does the GIMP printing reduce the processing time? Does it avoid the ps-pdf-ps conversion? That seems like a convoluted process to print a jpg image. Will print...

printing with Canon PIXMA MP970 printer

I just installed the turboprint program for a 30 trial. Printing text seems to be without problems. However, printing pictures has serious deficiencies. The printer is a Caon PIXMA MP970. The processor is an AMD 2.4 gigahertz dual core, The operating system is Linux Ubuntu 9.04. The pictures are mad...
