[SOLVED] Re: Printing is very slow
OK, I tried instead connecting the printer to my network via a standard patch cable. I set it up with cups (via system utlities), then copied the cups URI to set up the print in turboprint Works, and printing speed is now fast! I created a separate thread on how I could set up the printer instead wi...

Setting up printer with direct ethernet crossover cable
Hi Related to my other issue of printing too slow I am trying to now direct connect my printer to my PC using a crossover ethernet cable. I read the TurboPrint user manual and it isn't clear how to set this up (or even if it is possible). I can manually set up the printer to a specific IP address, s...

Re: Printing is very slow
OK thank you
I will try ethernet insterad. I made a crossover cable to allow me to directly connect to my computer (don't have enough ports in my office to put the printer on the network).
I will report back once I've figured out how to set this up.

Re: Printing is very slow
I just tried printing a 5x7 at 720 dpi
It took around 5 minutes! Usually this takes about 30-60 seconds

Printing is very slow
Hi I have been a user for a few years now. I noticed that on my last distro that I had some very idiosyncratic print speed issues. Example: - Print 4x6 in GIMP plugin. Prints fine at normal speed. - Print borderless 4x6 in system module. Prints very slow, with head transitioning once every 5 seconds...

Re: How do I recover my configs from a previous install?
OK, apologies I was a little angry there... I found an old backup and restored according you your instructions... thank you. I will ensure I have my root filesystem also backed up. I am having some color issues - saturation is very low (not nozzles, as nozzle check is good). So I will troubleshoot a...

Re: How do I recover my configs from a previous install?
OK thanks
so not in the home folder (because that is the one I have a backup for).
Thanks
Feature request: allow the user to specify where the configs get saved, or have a config export button to allow a snapshot

How do I recover my configs from a previous install?
I had to reinstall my Linux OS (Mint) after some issues. I have backups of my home folder, but when I reinstated that TurboPrint does not read the 'turboprint.cfg' file. I had to add my printer again, and the custom profiles I had painfully set up do not appear. Apart from home>user>.turboprint wher...

Black and White printing bug - UCR level doesn't save
Hi, when I try adjusting the Black Level (UCR) in the config tool, it saves there. However when I open the print dialog and print using that same configured printer, the black level (UCR) still shows the default setting (50%). When I change that setting in the print dialog there is a noticeable diff...

Re: What are ink level usage defaults in print dialog, and how can the defaults be set?
OK thank you for the explanation, it makes sense.
FYI my UI is a little different - I don't have separate sliders for photo magenta / cyan, only one slider.
Perhaps I set my printer up incorrectly?
Thanks

What are ink level usage defaults in print dialog, and how can the defaults be set?
Hi, for my Epson 3880, I noticed that in the print dialog >> Advanced there are a number of % settings for ink level defaults, Question 1 - specifically I see three defaults: - UCR Black Usage (set to 50% default). Why 50%? - Photo-Cyan Usage (set to 50% default). Why 50%? - Photo-Magenta Usage (set...

Re: Black and White (only) printing Epson 3880
Ok, thank you for answering my questions. A member of pixls.us was following this thread also and advised me to use the gray color balance wheel on one of the tabs. I tried a minor adjustment to get rid of the yellow cast and the print now looks like a perfectly balanced black and white! One suggest...
