Hello,

in "greyscale mode", the PrintFab driver uses only the black ink cartridge. The Canon driver mixes brighter shades of grey out of cyan, magenta & cyan which produces a finer pattern. This mode is also available in PrintFab where it is called "grey photo".

First try to do a

ping 192.168.0.99

if you get replies, the ip & network connection should work.

Then try a different network protocols:

Connection = Remote printer
Server = 192.168.0.99
Printer = lp

or

Connection = Socket
Server = 192.168.0.99
Port = 9100

Sorry, I was taking about our Linux driver "TurboPrint". PrintFab and TurboPrint are in the same forum so I got confused. You are right, you can adjust the usage of light colors. This makes sense as it is possible to save ink by doing so (however there is more grain). We chose not to make ...

It may be a known problem that is resolved with Ubuntu 6.10 / cups 1.2.3: The page format is not correctly transmitted to the driver.

Solution: install cups-1.2.3

Workaround: change the default page size to 4x6 in TurboPrint Config.

This is correct:

You can adjust Black, Cyan, Magenta and Yellow in TurboPrint Config.

However, the conversion from CMYK to more color channels is fixed (e.g. Red, Blue for the R1800 or light cyan, light magenta for other photo printers).
