Where is the printer connected to? Ibook or linux system? I assume it is connected to the linux computer. Probably you have to turn on printer sharing in CUPS. This can be done via the web-frontend of CUPS. Open an internet browser (e.g. firefox) and enter "http://localhost:631" as address...

Could you please explain what printing problems you have? Apparently you have chosen a borderless printing page size in TurboPrint. With borderless page formats each page is defined a bit bigger than the actual paper size (so a small part on each side of the paper gets printed outside the page margi...

Hi,

the slow printing is caused by the USB backend in FC7. An upgrade of CUPS to the current version helps:

Hello,

you will have to re-apply the license key (e.g. choose the license key file when requested by PrintFab Installer). You will not have to install the printer again - the driver and its settings will remain unchanged.

Hello, if you print from a Windows computer to a Linux server, the print job is directly passed to the CUPS printing system, the TurboPrint driver is not active. There may be a problem with CUPS configuration - please check /var/log/cups/error_log (on the server) after trying to print from the Windo...

Hello, good to hear that it prints reliably now. About Quark - this might be interesting for having only the required PPD files in QuarkXPress: PPD files for currently installed printers are stored in the directory "/etc/cups/ppd". However, QuarkXPress searches in "/System/Library/Pri...

Hello, a possible reason for stalled printout is unreliable USB transfer. This is sometimes the case with the Mac OS X built-in USB driver and can cause problems like you described: - no printout - stalled printout - wrong printer initialization (e.g. wrong page format) (This doesn't affect Canon's ...

Hello,

208.69.32.130 seems to be nxdomain.guide.opendns.com (looked up using www.dnswatch.info). I have no idea why this address is contacted.

Can you open shared folders on your Windows server from your Mac?

Hello, the driver contacts the printer when you open the print dialog (ink status query; only if the printer is attached locally via USB) or when you actually print. When does the printer "freeze" - when you print? Does it stop in the middle of the page? Always at the same position or at r...

Problem solved

rusty2 reports: "I have fixed the problem. It was operator error. Running Kubuntu and using KnetworkManager, I neglected all this time to set the gateway address properly for my eth0 and my ath0 wireless settings. I presume because the eth0 and the ath0 ports were finding their way properly for...
