PCLinuxOS

I am new to Linux. I think I correctly downloaded and installed turboprint. I can find it in Root>Usr>Share>Bin or something like that. When I click on the "Run" choice and start to type in Turboprint, on of the choices is to run the Turboprint control. When I click on that, a spinning icon shows up in the panel, but then it disappears. How do I start the setup?

Hello,

a possible explanation is that you installed the 64bit version of TurboPrint on a 32bit Linux - or the other way round.
I recommend to download & install the RPM package of TurboPrint - if you use RPM instead of the command line installation (TGZ archive), you should get an error message if you are using the wrong version (32bit / 64bit).

I did use the RPM. I did use the 64 bit on a 64 bit system.

The error message

/usr/bin/turboprint: cannot execute binary file: Exec format error

indicates that the CPU type (or the version of the libc library) of the program "turboprint" doesn't match the Linux installation.
The most likely explanation is that you are trying to run TurboPrint 64bit (or TurboPrint for ARM processor) on Linux 32bit.

Please note that it is possible to install a 32bit Linux on a PC with a 64bit CPU.

Can you please post the results of the command

uname -a

(this will show processor architecture of your Linux)?

[knine@localhost ~]$ uname -a
Linux localhost.localdomain 3.18.1-pclos1 #1 SMP Wed Dec 17 03:45:39 CST 2014 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

According to the output of the "uname" command, your Linux system is actually 32bit ("i686" means 32bit, "x86_64" would be 64bit).
Please download & install the 32bit package of TurboPrint.

I realized that from the output. I have already downloaded the 64 bt distro and installed that. Then Turboprint installed correctly. Thank you for helping me to figure this out. I really like the Turboprint program.
