Turning on the printer activates installation of a driver

Hi,
OS is Ubuntu 9.10, Turbo-print 2 is installed. The printer is a local, via usb connected Canon Pixmax iP3600. No other printer driver is installed. But every time I turn on the printer, ubuntu wants to install one. Is it necessary to have installed a second, useless driver beside Turbo-print?

Hello,

when a printer is plugged in, Ubuntu's autodetection mechanism checks if a printer driver has already been installed for this printer. Only printers that have been set up with the standard "usb" backend are recognized, not TurboPrint printers that have been set up with TurboPrint's "tpu" backend (the "tpu" backend is necessary if you want to monitor printer & ink status als during printing).

Solution:

Install a driver using the "usb" backend. You can also create a second printer queue in TurboPrint Control - press "Add" and choose "Canon iP3600 USB" instead of "Canon iP3600 TP-USB".
