IP 2200 unable to use black cartridge

Post by littlebigtux »

Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex AMD64 version
Canon IP2200
Turboprint 2.08-1 AMD64

In turboprint control center
"configure" tab > no way to select other modes than "colors"
"Toolbox" tab > no level indicated for "black"

When printing a test page, black ink is used...
When printing cleaning page black cartridge is used...
When printing alignement page, black works...

When printing a "normal" page black isn't used (Black is created with colors, awfuls results and really expansive printing)

This printer perfectly works with XP and with Ubuntu 8.10 32 bits
Also perfectly worked with Ubuntu 8.04 32 bits with Turboprint 1.xx and with Canon's cnj drivers

I hope that you'll be able to find a solution.

Hello,

black ink us used with the following exceptions:

- borderless printing is selected (page size e.g. "A4 borderless")
- media type not "Plain paper" but e.g. "Inkjet paper" or "Glossy"

Both exceptions are restrictions from the printer hardware & firmware.

Please check your print settings in TurboPrint Control Center / in the application's print dialog.

If you are still uncertain about the reason for black not being used, please send the log file

/var/log/turboprint/print.log
