eeebuntu 3 (Ubuntu 9.04 variant) keeps trying to ID printer

Post by davidfirth1 »

I am running eeebuntu 3 (Ubuntu 9.04 variant for the Asus eeePC) and the latest version of Turboprint. Every time I plug in one of my printers, the system insists on searching for drivers even though I have them already installed in Turboprint. I just got back into using an eeePC and Turboprint and I don't remember this behavior under eeebuntu 2 (Ubuntu 8.x variant).

Hello,

a workaround might be to install one of the Ubuntu system drivers for your printer (just any of the drivers for the same manufacturer) so that eeebuntu stops complaining (in addition to the TurboPrint driver - it is no problem to install multiple drivers for the same printer).

I tried this with my Canon MP530 and it worked. Thanks.
