Kernel Crash on Fedora 12

Post by paul »

I do not know when this started to happen, it could be any time in the last couple of weeks. When I try to print using TurboPrint I get 0 pages printed, with no error message. If I look in /var/log/messages then I get:

Code: Select all

localhost kernel: gs[2936]: segfault at 7f75f5fea14c ip 00007f75f3965fd5 sp 00007fff0c960b88 error 4 in libgs.so.8.70[7f75f35aa000+487000
]

I do not appear to get any other problems with ghostscript. Has anyone else seen this? Has anyone got any ideas?

Code: Select all

kernel-2.6.31.12-174.2.19.fc12.x86_64
ghostscript-8.70-5.fc12.x86_64
turboprint-2.13-2.x86_64

Hello,

it could be a known problem - see also the thread http://www.turboprint.info/support/view ... =2104#2104

There is a problem in ghostscript-8.70-5. The solution is to downgrade to an earlier version or to install the upcoming packages

ghostscript-8.70-6.fc12
or
ghostscript-8.71-1.fc12

Bug 563313 - cups driver gives incorrect output with -r600x600

Hi

This problem looks different to me.

Bug 563313 says:
the printer only prints black pages with small vertical lines and some patterns on it
I have however installed http://admin.fedoraproject.org/updates/ ... .71-1.fc12 to check it out and it then fails with:

Code: Select all

localhost kernel: gs[6080]: segfault at 2 ip 0000000000000002 sp 00007fff79bdee58 error 4 in gs[7f920e13a000+1000]
A little different but still an error in ghostscript. GSview still works.

Thanks for your help.

But what do I know. Caused by a key problem on the rpm package. I downgraded to the 70.1 ghostscript and everything sprang into life.

Sorry about the previous message and thanks for the help.
