printer not connected

Post by gian »

Hello,

I have a Canon Pixma Pro 10s, with Turboprint.
There is something weird, because the driver complains that the printer is not connected, and shows a USB cable.
However, the printer works from the web manager, answers pings correctly.
It's like if the driver is looking for the USB cable, ignoring that the printer is network connected.

Any ideas?

thanks,

-Gian

ok, I have clue...

in /var/log/turboprint/print.log I see...

device for Pro10S-TurboPrint: bjnp://192.168.x.yyy:8611

but the current address is 192.168.x.zzz so this is the problem.

Where is written the printer address, so I can fix the problem?

thanks,

Hallo Gian,

you can edit the IP address in TurboPrint Control. There click on the button to edit your printer. You may either edit the URI string that defines the connection of the printer or select your printer in the pulldown list of printer connections currently available (attached printers which are detected automatically).

follow up..

I had a problem with the IP address (probably I reboot the printer and DHCP gave it a different address), which is now solved.

The printer works, is printing, BUT.. still shows "printer not connected" and the ink bars are all blank...

So, the printer address is set as bjnp://192.168.1.xxx:8611, however, in TurboPrint Control Center I see, Connection Type set to "standard printer" (shows an USB cable), instead of Other Printer (Network).

If I choose Other, I have the following options:
- LPD
- JetDirect
- IPP
- CUPS

None of these options works..

Hello gian,

for the Canon Pixma Pro 10s the BJNP protocol should be used for data transfer via network. BJNP printer connections are detected automatically by TurboPrint when connected printers are searched (e.g. when editing a printer or adding a new one). Thus the appropriate connecton URI should be listed as available connection in "standard printers" - just select the correct entry there.
I have no idea why the printer status is not available on your computer - are using the latest TurboPrint release?
