PrePrint Cleaning Canon IP4700

Post by pabloikba »

Prior to the installation of TurboPrint on Ubuntu 10.10, I remember one time that the printer decided to "clean". Since TurboPrint has been installed and been used exclusively (mostly for print-on DVDs), I get alot of PrePrint cleaning - uses a lot of ink, too. How do you stop this unnecessary process?

Hello,

the TurboPrint printer driver doesn't send any cleaning commands with the print job. The printer itself decides when it is time to clean the print head, depending on the time that has passed since the last print head cleaning and the number of pages printed.

Very important: there is excessive cleaning if the printer hasn't been properly shut down. So if you are using a mutiple power socket with a central switch, make sure that you switch off the printer before you switch off the power socket.

Thanks for the reply. I will shut down the printer (which I never do) and then restart and see if it makes a difference.
