Drivers for new Canon printers are planned for early 2007.
Most new Canon printers can be used with existing drivers:

Canon iP4300 -> iP4200
Canon MP160 -> MP150
Canon MP180 -> MP170
Canon MP460 -> MP450
Canon MP510 -> MP500
Canon MP600 -> MP500
Canon MP810 -> MP800
Canon iP1200/1300/1700 -> iP2200

(this has not been tested extensively - not all print resolutions may work).

On Ubuntu 6.10 with CUPS installed
I tried with iP2200 on 1.94 but printer light flashes as if receiving data but doesnt print anything. The job gets removed from queue.
Now i installed 1.95. Light flashes, draws in the paper and puts it out immediately without printing anything and job gets removed from queue
Any Idea?

I have got exactly the same problem with a Canon IP1200. The test page do exactly the same effect. I suppose that we can find any log somewhere, any idea where ?

I think you have to post a feedback on this site itself to let the developers know of the bug. Good effort that these guys are doing. Hope they fix the issue

Thank you for your feedback and please excuse the problem!

The driver currently only works if

- both black and color cartridge are present in the printer

or

- a different "Paper" setting than "Plain paper" is chosen in TurboPrint Config / xtpconfig (e.g. "Inkjet Paper")

I will post when a corrected version is available.

I dont have the black catridge. However I tried to change the papertype to inkjet paper and it still was not working. Now however the align catridge is also not working.

Canon Pixma 1800

I have a new Canon Pixma 1800
I installed and started CUPS on my Gentoo system
I setup the printer within turboprint as a pixma 1700

Oct 9 19:22:20 [kernel] drivers/usb/class/usblp.c: usblp0: removed
Oct 9 19:31:13 [kernel] usb 4-1: new full speed USB device using ohci_hcd and address 4
Oct 9 19:31:13 [kernel] usb 4-1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice
Oct 9 19:31:13 [kernel] drivers/usb/class/usblp.c: usblp0: USB Bidirectional printer dev 4 if 0 alt 0 proto 2 vid 0x04A9 pid 0x10C2

the first time I added it in xptsetup, test page failed saying it couldn't talk to CUPS. I tried again and the test page printed fine.
I can't explain that one...
