Canon MP800R

Hi,
Firstly what a great bit of software !!
I would be convinced to buy it apart from one issue I am having which is:
When I print to my Canon PIXMA MP800R over the network something weird happens the first time (after printer switch on), and only for the first job after switch on...
I print, the monitor pops up and then halts on around 25-30% progress, I hear the printer pull in paper from the tray and then it stops, both the printer and the monitor halt on printing documents... I have left it for like 30 minutes with no joy, then the only way to cancel the job was to switch off the printer and remove it from the queue on the PC.
I recently found out that when it halts, if I open the printer cover as if to access the ink carts, I get the error message on the printer screen,"cover open", then close the cover, the current print job resumes and all is well.... very odd.... this doesn't happen in TB v1 or in windows etc... is it easily identifiable ? Can I help locate this potential fault ??
Many thanks,,
Adam
