NO color management desired.

greetings,

USING:
windows 7
Epson 3880 & driver
Photoshop CC

the ONLY reason I want to use PrintFab is to extend the length of paper I can use beyond what the Epson driver allows.
I have an acceptable print made with Photoshop and the Epson driver.

I want PrintFab to have NO EFFECT on its color balance, contrast, or anything other color attribute.
Is this possible? if so, you have a certain buyer when it's available.

cheers, jim

Hi yeeeeha,

without any color management you would get a very dark and oversturated print as colors must be adjusted to ink and paper. The main target of PrintFab's color management is to reproduce colors as near as possible to the colors defined in the document.
Probably this is what you want. If you leave all controls (sliders, etc.) in PrintFab settings in neutral position color balance, contrast, etc. should be reproduced as defined in the document (e.g. your Photoshop image).

thank you so much for the speedy response.

i'll try to be more clear and specific.
maybe I should have said that I want color management, but only from photoshop NOT from printfab.
what I want to do is turn off the color management of the printfab driver. I have used many different print drivers and have always been able to turn off their color management. I want only photoshop to manage color. apparently that is impossible with PrintFab_Win_0.93beta, at least my little brain can't figure out how.
I want printfab to give exactly the same result as the Epson driver in terms of the look of the image. again, the ONLY effect I want from PrintFab is to allow longer paper than what the Epson driver allows.

hopefully, this system allows hyperlinks. here's a demo of one attempt.

I understand what you want but unfortunately this is not possible. PrintFab controls the printer at a low level and must use its own halftoning algorithm, linearization curves, black generation curves, light cyan/light magenta curves etc. This means that PrintFab doesn't print identical to the Epson driver in "no color management" mode. This applies also to any other RIP software that controls the printer drivectly. Some software packages use Epson's halftoning library and print identical to the Epson driver but also with the same length limit.

If you want to use PrintFab you can also do all your color management within Photoshop, however you will have to create new ICC profiles where yopu print the profile target with PrintFab in "no color management" mode.

Hi

Actually a no color management is desirable for other purposes such as target printing.
There has to be a way to do that. I know that you provide target printing services, but I have my own tools and I want to be able to print to the printer without interference from the driver in terms of color management.

I am planning to buy TP to use my Canon pro 9000 mk 2 on Linux, but there are 3 things that bother me:
1) My understanding is that TurboPrint Pro does not allow me to import icc profiles and therefore it is useless
2) TP Studio is expensive for us who don't earn euros, and the only thing I need from it is importing ICC profiles, I don't need more than A3+
3) I should be able to print with no color management, i.e. I don't want TP to make corrections for me when I do target printing. For example I am calibrating my monitor an I did everything in Linux except target printing because my TP demo version does not allow that. On mac there is in ColorSync an option to print as color target and Adobe has its own utility http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/834/cpsid_83497.html

I could do all my printing in MacOS, but I would rather pay some money and do it in Linux, especially to support Linux development, but I can't justify 60 euros
If there weren't some limitations and I could print target colors I would buy the Studio version otherwise I think that the Pro version should allow custom icc profiles loading for the price.

It is possible to print without color management, even if PrintFab's "no color management" mode will not print identical to the "no color manamgent" mode in Epson's Windows driver (as explained above).
