"Printer not connected" but it's working

Post by tony »

The printer monitor says the printer is off line, and the graphic indicates the same, but the printer seems to work. The spooler messages are working.

Any thoughts?

Hello tony,

the message is only related to the status monitoring, printing should not be influenced. Please let me know what the URI for your printer is - shown in TurboPrint Control in the "URI" column for the printers. Probably it starts with "tcp://..." or "lpd://..."?

I saw the same a few days ago. Even more strange, monitoring seemed to be working, other than the “Printer not connected” message and icon.

What triggered it was: I changed the printer’s network connection from Wi-Fi to ethernet. My URI was an lpd://...

I have the same issue.

My Canon Pixma G2510 is a network printer connected by usb to an old Wifi router configured as a mesh repeater

It is set up in TurboPrint as:
"Other Printer"
Network Printer socket/Jet Direct
address 192.168.178.31 (the address of the mesh repeater)
Socket 9100
Name: G2510Series-Turboprint
Description Canon_PIXMA_G2510series_(TurboPrint)

In the url section of TurboPrint Control, it is listed as 192.168.178.31:9100

The turboPrint Monitor shows the printer is NOT connected - but it can print a test page or other documents.
The Toolbox also says if asked to do an ink check - it attempts to "connect" to the printer and then says "Error, printer not connected". But it can print a test page.

Hello,

bidirectional communication works only with network printers that have WiFi or a network port.
If you connect an USB printer via a router, the communication is unidirectional and no printer or ink status can be retrieved.
