print pdf to Caono mp990 stalls

Post by charliehturboprint »

When I print a certain pdf file to Canon mp990, the status says 80% of page 1 printed, then the printer goes offline
"Network host xxxx is busy, waiting 30 seconds". The printer is connected by wifi.

And then it just gets stuck there.

The same file prints to the same printer in Windows without any problem at all.

I have tried all sorts of different resoution and color settings. If I reduce the resolution, it gets farther down the first page before it stalls.

What can I try to get this print job to work?

Hello,

please open TurboPrint Control and check which network backend is configured for your Canon MP990 printer - you can find it in the list of printers, column "URI". The URI should start with "bjnp://..." (backend for Canon "bubble jet network protocol").

If the URI doesn't start with "bjnp://", open the "Edit" dialog window and check if you printer is shown in the "Coose ports" selector (entry "Canon MP990 BJNP"). If it is not visible, choose "Other" and enter the address "bjnp://<printer ip address>".

If the URI already starts with "bjnp://" please find out the bjnp backend version by opening a terminal window and entering

/usr/lib/cups/backend/bjnp --version

or on 64bit linux:

/usr/lib64/cups/backend/bjnp --version

Please also include information on your Linux distribution and version.
