I tried the turboprint drivers years ago and found them unreliable. That, and the fact I had to pay the same for the drivers than I paid for the printer.
I've recently discovered you had a version 2 and thought I would give it a try. To my surprise the drivers seemed more reliable and feature wise excellent (I just love the double side option).

The problem came after printing my 4th openoffice presentation. It just hanged up after printing the first side of the page. I retried, this time using just one side and the driver didn't go beyond the first page. This deems the driver once again unreliable.

Here are some additional errors I've found:
In fedora SELinux complains whenever I print. Workable under less security.
Each time I print the driver says the printer is disconnected (just during the printing process).

There is also a question I have:
If I buy a license for how long will it be valid? I mean, for how long can I get updates?

Best regards.

Hello,

thank you for your feedback!

The TurboPrint license includes 6 months free updates, this can be extended to 2 years for a fee or EUR 6.95.

About the problems:

1. printing from openoffice

could you please send the log file /var/log/turboprint/print.log after printing such a document (e.g. post the section for the last print job)?

2. SELinux

TurboPrint installation adds a "module" for SELinux that defines necessary permissions for TurboPrint drivers.
Depending on your installation, additional permissions may be required.

Could you look into the log file /var/log/audit/audit.log and see which problems are reported (lines contain probably comm="tpprint")?

About the openoffice problem, I really don't feel like reprinting that dreadfull ppt again. I browsed the mentioned log trying to find a date or an hour with little result. Does it log only the bad prints or everything? Is there a way to fetch yesterday's log?

SELinux hasn't given any problems today. (maybe it was needing a reboot).
Here was I could get from yesterday's error:

All the print jobs are in the log file, however there is a size limit so if there are too many jobs, older ones will not be visible.

You could send the complete file /var/log/turboprint/print.log to

mail a zedonet d com

I'm currently away from my computer, I'll send you the log as soon as I get back.
