I recently purchased an Epson Stylus Photo R2880 printer and I wonder if there is a way to print on paper rolls instead of sheets. I already noticed there is an option of adding a custom paper size, which is unfortunately limited to the length of 3m. Is there a way of adding a paper size of 30x1000cm or 30x3000cm to be able to print like in a RIP studio? (upgrade of a license, etc.)

You can change the paper length limit that is specified in the TurboPrint driver, however I cannot tell if there is also a limit in printer firmware:
Edit the file
/usr/share/turboprint/printers/Epson_StylusPhotoR2880.tpp
in a text editor:
change the section
[Size0]
Name=Custom
Custom=1
Minsize=3000,3000
Size=12950,129000
Margins=120,120,120,120,540
Param=99,0,0,0
change
Size=12950,129000
the second parameter "129000" is the print length in 1/1000 inches
