manual duplex not working

Post by lougalbiati »

I just dpwnloaded and installed turboprint 2.14-1 on my daughter's laptop which
is running ubuntu 9.10. We are printing to a Canon MP480. It works fine,
except that the manual duplex feature doesn't seem to work.

The printer is called
tp0. In the TurboPrint Printer Monitor with tp0 selected, we click the
Open Printer Settings icon. In the Settings form we select Layout, and
change Duplex: Off to Duplex: Manual (Portrait). The Duplex Mode is Manual.
Click Ok. Now we print a multi-page pdf file. It prints single-sided.
In the Printer Monitor, the Settings still shows Duplex: Off. If we
go back to Open Printer Settings, Layout, it still shows Duplex: Manual.

I did the same thing on my laptop which has turboprint 2.12-2 and Ubuntu 9.10,
and the duplex works fine with the same printer and same pdf file. (Surprisingly,
in the Printer Monitor, the Settings shows Duplex: Off for me too, but the manual
duplex feature works anyway.)

My daughter's laptop has 64-bit linux and 64-bit turboprint, while mine is 32-bit
(but I doubt that matters).

Hello,

you probably have to enable "Duplex" printing in the print dialog of the application (Evince, OpenOffice, Adobe Reader, ...).

In the TurboPrint settings (which you can open from TurboPrint Control or TurboPrint Monitor) you only set the default settings which the application can override.

From which application did you print?
