PrintFab Crashing

Post by vcolombo »

I continue to have issues with PrintFab Preview crashing when I print. Sometimes reinstalling PrintFab helps temporarily, but it ends up crashing again. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I use this for business and right now I'm unable to print. Below are the Windows errors.

Thank you,

Vincent

Re: PrintFab Crashing

Post by zedonet »

Hello,

thank you for your problem report. I have the following questions:

- does the crash occur exactly when you press the "Print" button in the previewer?
- is this a sporadic problem (sometimes printing is possible and sometimes PrintFab Preview crashes)?
- does it depend on the document and / or the application you are printing from (please try if printing from simple applications like "WordPad" or "Paint" works)?

Please also send the PrintFab log files by email to: mail (at) zedonet (dot) com

In the "Start" menu, open

Start -> All programs -> PrintFab -> Show log files

and enclose the file "printfab_preview.log". You can send it in a ZIP archive (e.g. compress from Windows Explorer using the right-mouse-button option "Send to ZIP archive").

No, the print spooler window pops up momentarily and then everything exits.

I've gone a while with PrintFab working fine, but once it crashes then it consistently crashes after that. I just tried to print the file and it crashed. I then tried to print a Notepad document and Notepad throws an error saying the printer is offline.

I mostly print from the Adobe Creative Cloud applications. The particular document I'm trying to print now is from Photoshop. I've tried both the original PSD file and also saving it out to a tiff, but both crash PrintFab. I was able to print a Notepad document before trying to print the Photoshop document.

I'll send the log files as requested now.

Thanks

The problem has been found, it occurs with some Epson printer drivers in borderless print mode. A fix will be included in the next PrintFab release 1.11.
