HP 7740 not working over WIFI, can´t print

Hi, I'm testing my printer with Print Fab, downloaded the app and running some tests, quite happy for the performance and results.

But I can't get my HP-7740 to work over WIFI. Will explain in detail:

- Printing over USB works, both directly and using Print Fab
- Printing over WIFI only works directly, but not using Print Fab

Instead of adding the printer using the "already set up" option and selecting the already installed & configured printer... I tried adding it via "NETWORK" option, using the Network Printer LPD method and inserting the IP address that I see on the printer / printer properties / IP address. And I can confirm it worked Tried using the printer some other day and still worked.

But today I tried again with no luck. It's the same network and I can see the printer having the same IP address and this being the same on the printer configuration on Print Fab. It didn't work, couldn't print

I tried other options on Print Fab with no luck, and then went back to the original configuration: same IP as the initial set up. It worked. Yes it works, but it's not ok. All my printing preferences saved on the original printer have been lost, and I have to modify the settings all over again. Sounds like sometimes it will work and sometimes it won't kind of case. Perhaps I'm missing something here because configurations should stay without needing changes to go back to the same original config, will appreciate advice.

So, I had to repeat the process and it worked (as described above). But now 5 minutes later it's not working. Can't print, this is weird.

Update: previously stopped working (What it used to work)

So I removed the printer and added it again. Asked me to print a test page, did so. It works. But printing from applications doesn't work, just from the printfab config panel.

Last update.

Restarted the computer and added the printer again with an IP address (same as before), it worked and printed the test page from PrintFab panel. Then tried printing from apps, no luck.

Restarted the laptop and suddenly the printer configuration changed from an IP address to this: fe80::9ae7:f4ff:feb0:bab1%15 (this is the Windows printer)

Deleted the PrintFab printer, added again but this time using the fe80::9ae7:f4ff:feb0:bab1%15 and it worked, printed the sample page, then tried printing from apps and it worked.

Restarted the laptop and now on windows it changed again, now from fe80::9ae7:f4ff:feb0:bab1%15 to the ip address (numbers), same as originally was. Decided to try from PrintFab (test page) and it worked, even as Windows having a number and PrintFab having this: fe80::9ae7:f4ff:feb0:bab1%15. Then tried printing from apps and it works.

This is weird but it works. Doesn't sound right to me, hope over time it just stays working as it supposes to, I don't care what appears on the config as long as it works.

It's been working fine now, I don't know what's been going on. This is just an update.

I'm having an issue where printfab sends the info to the printer, but wont print, just gives me a blank page. i've tried everything you have and more but still nothing.
anyone have any ideas?

Please try the following:

- connect the printer to your WiFi network

- at the printer's touch panel, determine the printer's IP address (something like "192.168.17.33") in the network settings

- add your printer in the PrintFab application:

Connection type = Network
Connection = Network printer Socket / Jetdirect
Printer / Print Server = <IP address>

Then try if you can print a test page from the PrintFab application ("Toolbox" -> "Print Test Page" -> "Demo Page and Status Sheet")

nope, prints test page just fine, but just wont print any stuff from any other software.
the progress bar says its sending to printer etc, but then cancels it off. no idea why?
EDIT: ok so it prints out on A4 but blank on A3 and this is using the pro XL version

Thank you, the information that the problem is related to the page size might be helpful.

I will try to reproduce the problem. Can you please send the following information:

- your PrintFab version

- from which application did you print?

- if possible, include a sampe document to reproduce the problem

- the PrintFab log files. Here is how to find the log files:

Windows menu -> All programs -> PrintFab -> Show log files
You can send them in a ZIP archive (e.g. compress from Windows Explorer
using the right-mouse-button option "Send to ZIP archive").

With how long the support takes I think I'm going to have to buy a new printer and buy a different rip.
I've not been able to get this working for the whole 14 day trial.

Sorry, sometimes support takes longer as we don't have all printers in our office.
I'll have acces to an HP 7740 print next week and will try to solve this by end of next week.
