Can't print when VPN is connected

Post by grunt0302 »

Linux Mint 20
Desktop PC, 64 bit
Epson ET-3750 Ecotank Printer
Linksys WRT3200ACM router

I recently installed ProtonVPN. I cannot send data to the Epson through TurboPrint on local WIFI network unless I disconnect from the VPN. I can ping the printer from the command line. I don't have a firewall set up. ProtonVPN support says the 192.164.... interface is exposed, so the VPN should not be preventing the printer from receiving the data.
Any ideas?
Thanks

Hello,

the VPN should not block local network traffic but it might prevent automatic detection of the printer via DNSSD protocol. What is the "URI" of the printer in TurboPrint Control (list of printers, column "URI")?

Thanks. The URI is: dnssd://EPSON%20ET-3750%20Series._ipp._tcp.local/?uuid=cfe92100-67c4-11d4-a45f-

I hope that I copied this right.

I changed the nameserver to 8.8.8.8 for the VPN and I was able to print.
