Setting up Epson XP HD 15000 for DTF

Post by danyelm81 »

I downloaded Printfab (trial edition) and attempting to find out how to set this printer up. ( I've converted the other 15000 for sublimation, however this one is giving me a run for my money and I am new to DTF. I have a DTG machine so I am somewhat knowledgeable. I've read through the manual and watched videos however nothing seems to work for this. My colors do not reflect the white ink, and it keeps saying I am out of paper, which I am sure its because I don't have the proper profiles etc for both ink and paper. Any help or a step by step to make sure I've done what I am supposed to will be helpful. I appreciate any help. Thanks!! Dani

This thread is already a bit older, just for completeness: There is now a beta version of PrintFab available that supports DTF printing for certain printers including the Epson XP-15000:

Hey Dani, welcome to the world of DTF printing!

You're definitely not alone — the Epson XP-15000 can be a bit tricky when converting for DTF, especially with software like PrintFab. Here’s a basic step-by-step that might help get you on the right track:

1. Install a Proper RIP Software

2. Check Ink Channel Assignments

Make sure your ink slots are mapped correctly in the RIP software:

CMYK in the usual channels

White ink in the remaining (often LC and LM on converted printers)

Also, ensure the nozzles are firing well — white ink clogs more easily, so regular head cleans are essential.

3. Paper Feeding Error

The “Out of Paper” issue usually happens because:

You're using film that’s slightly slippery and the rollers don’t grip it well.

Try inserting a plain sheet behind the film for added stiffness.

Ensure the paper size in the RIP matches what’s loaded.

4. ICC Profiles & Color Management

You’re right — getting the correct ICC profile is key. Since you're new to DTF, I’d recommend testing with standard DTF ink profiles provided by your ink supplier. If none are available, try to manually adjust saturation and curves in the RIP until you find a balance.

If all this becomes too much of a time sink, some folks go for pre-converted and tested systems which are plug-and-play and come with support, drivers, and profiles included. It might be worth considering if you're spending too much time troubleshooting.

Hello officialdtgpro, thank you for your comments. Please understand that we cannot accept advertisements for other RIP software, so we had to edit your post.

PrintFab is a printer driver & RIP software for many purposes like document and photo printing, screen printing and dye sublimation. PrintFab did not support DTF printing at the time of the original post. The new version PrintFab 3 that also supports DTF printing with white ink has just been released.
Printfab is an entry-level solution for cost-effective DTF printing with standard Epson printers. Of course there are other DTF solutions available with special DTF printer hardware.

We would be happy if you would become a reseller of our software in the future.
