EPSON R260

Post by BobBlum »

I am a paid TurboPrint user. I have purchased a new printer that has no TurboPrint support. Would very much appreciate TurboPrint support for my new EPSON Stylus Photo R260 printer. I use Ubuntu Linux Can you tell me when this might be forthcoming?

Thank you.

I would also like to add to the list for support for the r260, my r220 died and epson replaced it with the r260, so now I am in a quandry as what to do to use this great printer

R260 beta driver

Post by jmerskin »

I am also using an Epson SP R260. The lack of a good printer driver is all that is holding me back from making Linux my base O/S (Mepis 6.5). I am currently using the Avasys driver thru CUPS and it does not give good results for high quality pictures. I am going to try Turboprint to determine if it does better.

This may mean nothing at all but, when I looked at the detail of the beta tgz, there was no Epson_StylusPhotoR260.tpp, R265, etc. The one I did find in the .tpp files was the Epson Stylus 1400. Are all the printers:

Epson Stylus Photo R260 / R265 / R360 / R380 / RX560
Epson Stylus DX4000 / DX4050 / DX5000 / DX5050 / DX6000 / DX6050 / DX7000F (models also available as CX....)
Epson Stylus C79 / C88 / C91 / C92 / D78 / D92

based on the 1400 driver or am I way off base?

Please ignore my earlier querry. The beta version is working very well. To get rid of the logo, it tells me I have to purchase a license key. Not a problem, however, this is a beta version. Will I the key also work with the final version? Or will I have to purchase an additional key?

Thanks for the reply. I haven't found any problem with the beta version so far.
