Mac OS X with Canon iP6000D, no output

Post by Blodwyn »

My iP6000D works fine on local USB on my Intel Mini. Just installed PrintFab in trial mode (running latest Tiger update applied yesterday). After PrintFab install, I installed the printer using the toolbox OK (on USB). Tried to print a test page and ...nothing... Opening up the printer info box shows it hanging on sending data. I de-installed PrintFab and the printer works OK again. I repeated the PrintFab installation without any better luck, so I de-installed it again. I'm not prepared to download and install alternative USB drivers as per the troubleshooting section - why should I when all my USB devices work fine otherwise?

Any suggestions before I give up?

Edit: I also tried installing on my G4 Powerbook with exactly the same result

I can't tell why it shouldn't work. USB problems are rare and it is very unlikely that they appear on both of your computers.

It would be helpful to have the log files "printfab_cups.log" and "cups/error_log" emailed after trying to print:

- Open "Applications" / "Utilities" / "Console"
- Click on "Logs"
- Choose the log file: double click "/var/log", then "printfab_cups.log"
- Copy the section for the last printout & paste to the forum
- Choose the second log file: double click "/var/log/cups", then "error_log"

Installing the alternative USBTB driver doesn't affect your other USB devices - it is only used for printers and only if you explicitely choose it during installation of the printer driver, so it is no risk at all.

I looked in Console logs, and I don't have an entry for var/log/printfab_cups.log - it goes straight from OSInstall.custom followed by ppp to sa then samba.

Here's the entry for /var/log/cups/error-log
