Paper Orientation Doesn't Stick

I am using the latest AMD64 bit .deb file with a Canon Pixma 6600D. If I change the page orientation from Portrait to Landscape via Ctrl-P printer properties the printer reverts to the previous mode after printing the job. However, the dialog still shows the correct mode.

To reproduce:

Change orientation Portrait -> Landscape
Print job - OK orientation is correct.
Start another job and check to see if orientation is still Landscape - dialog box says Landscape.
Print - it comes out in portrait mode. I have to toggle the orientation each time.

In which application did you change printer properties?
