Epson Stylus Color 3000 works fine on MacOS 9.2.2
Mac OSX 10.4.8 now installed
Printer has a working ethernet card (Epson model) installed
Printer also has a TrendNet TE1-P1P Parallel port to Ethernet server
Neither ethernet connection works with PrintFab. Or, I cannot set this up correctly for it to function. Can somebody please explain all the necessary steps?
thanks.
Epson Stylus Color 3000 - fails
Hello,
a general description can be found in our PDF manual, chapter 6 "Adding a printer with the Printer Setup Utility" starting at page 23:
Open "Printer Setup Utility", choose tab "IP Printer".
Choose the network protocol - both "HP Jet Direct -Socket" or "Line Printer Daemon - LPD" should work.
In the field "Address" enter the printer's IP address. If you don't know the IP address - the Epson ethernet card has a button to print a network info page that contains the IP address.
If you have chosen "Line Printer Daemon" enter "lp" in the field "Queue" (do not leave empty). If you have choosen "HP Jet Direct" leave "Queue" empty.
Then choose "Print Using: Epson PrintFab" and choose the "Epson Stylus Color3000 PrintFab" from the list and press "Add".
There may be a problem that the printer's ip address cannot be reached because of network settings in your Mac. The printer's ip address must be within the address range of your network which is defined in OS X System Preferences.
E.g. if the "net mask" is "255.255.255.0" the first three numbers of your computer's ip address must be identical to the printer's ip address.
If you are not sure if the settings are correct please post your current settings in System Preferences -> Network -> Ethernet -> Configure.
To check if the printer server can be reached, open a Terminal window (Applications / Utilities / Terminal) and enter
ping <ip-address>
e.g.
ping 192.168.17.27
(only an example, your printer's ip address is different).
There should be some response like "64 byte from 192.168.17.27: ...". Press CTRL+C to stop the ping command.
