I've installed the newest Turboprint 1.95-2 FreeEdition to test it out with the Canon IP2000. I used the Ubuntu Fesity package to install Turboprint. The installation completed with no errors.
The Canon IP2000 is connected through USB and is detected correctly (in the select printer dialog for xtpsetup). The device name was detected as usb://canon/ip2000
The overall setup seems to be correct but as I try to print a testpage, the process is stuck. The printer status in the TPSetup window is stalled. There was no response at the printer.
Have anyone been able to set up the IP2000 successfully on Ubuntu Fesity? Please shed some light on my problem.
I was contemplating on getting the turboprint but now that it doesn't work...there's no motivations to.. :S
Thanks,
Canon IP2000 and Ubuntu Feisty
Hello,
there is a known USB device problem with Ubuntu Feisty which has been discussed on another thread in this forum http://www.turboprint.info/support/view ... ?p=244#244

Please let me know if this helps.I have a similar problem on an MP600.
I solved it by checking the permissions of /dev/usb*
Turned out that cupsys runs as user "cupsys", which needs to be in group
plugdev. This is on Ubuntu Feisty. So check
ls -l /dev/usb*
ps aux |grep cups
grep plugdev /etc/group
If that is the case for you, you need to
adduser cupsys plugdev

ubuntu-feisty's permission problem
hi,
I gave your instruction a try but it seems like I had already added cupsys to the plugdev group.
sudo adduser cupsys plugdev
The user `cupsys' is already a member of `plugdev'.
What else could be the problem?
