Heavy Ink with Canon i560x

Post by Gwasanaethau »

Hi everyone,

I ma having a small problem with my Canon i560x in Ubuntu 7.04. Every time I print something, the black is printed very heavily (it almost comes through the other side of the page). This happens with all applications and at all resolutions with TurboPrint, but it doesn't happen in Windows or with the basic Gutenprint drivers. I have tried turning the black ink setting in xtpconfig down to its minimum value (-50), but it still prints very heavily. Does anyone know what might be causing it and possibly how to remedy it?

Thanks and regards,

Gwasanaethau.

Hello,

a possible problem may be: if a borderless page format is chosen or a paper/media type different from "Plain Paper" is chosen, black is mixed out of yellow, magenta and cyan (this is a restriction of the printer and is also done by Canon's Windows driver).

To see if the driver is operating in this mode, it would be helpful, if you could post the log file /var/log/turboprint_cups.log (section of last print is sufficient).

Yes, the print was made in "borderless" mode. It should help to reduce "Ink Saturation" in TurboPrint Config (Graphics -> Activate User Colors -> Advanced -> Ink Saturation).
