The url is a very long line: dnssd://Canon%20Pro-100%20Series._ipp._tcp.local/?uuid=00000000-0000-1000-8000-

Not even close to what you suggested. Where should I have selected that the URL that you propose?
Or, more to the point, how do I fix it, and how do I avoid a recurrence in the future, if I have to reinstall or upgrade
the system?

Also, the tprintdaemon crashes have returned (or perhaps never left).
Perhaps we should contemplate installing your debug version of the driver to
fault-isolate the crash?

I am running Ubuntu 16.04LTS, BTW.

Hello,

yes, please run tprintdaemon in debug mode. Open a terminal window, then make sure that tprintdaemon isn't running - you can force it to quit by entering

sudo killall tprintdaemon

then run it in debug mode by entering

sudo tprintdaemon 255 &> tprintdaemon.log

when tprintdaemon crashes, please email the file "tprintdaemon.log" to mail <at> zedonet <dot> de

Will do. BTW, I installed version 2.42-1 a day or so ago.

The current version of tpdaemon has been running quietly, without problems, for
several months now. I think we can declare that problem solved.

Thank you.

With your latest version of the tpdaemon, printing speed is still very slow,
regardless of which quality setting I use. Even the "600dpi" on takes several
minutes to print one page.

The URL shown on the control center is:

dnssd://Canon%20PRO-100%20series._ipp._tcp.local/?uuid=00000000-0000-1000-8000-
and the driver is Canon_PIXMA_PRO100.

I am not sure if this is caused by slow print job processing in the driver or slow data transmission to the printer. Does attaching the printer by USB speed up printing?
