TurboPrint & PrintFab

My operating system is Ubuntu 6.10.

I downloaded "Turboprint_1.96-4_i386.deb" and tried to open it by dbl clicking the desktop icon and received the following error message--

Could not open turboprint_1.96-4_i386.deb
The package might be corrupted or you are not allowed to open the file. Check the permission of the file.

I tried again to download and used the shell command to open the turboprint file and received the same error message. I have the library file installed that is needed. Can't open and install Turboprint.

the download might be incomplete - file length should be 7,677,432 bytes.

Can you open a terminal window and try from command line

sudo dpkg -i turboprint_1.96-4_i386.deb

(the package file must be present in the current directory)?

If there is an error message, please post the message.

sudo dpkg -i turboprint_1.96-4_i386.deb

I executed this command and received the following error message:
dpkg: error processing turboprint_1.96-4_i386.deb (install):
cannot access archive: no such file or directory
Errors were encountered while processing: turboprint_1.96-4_i386.deb

Please copy the file turboprint_1.96-4_i386.deb to the directory /home/<username> first.

Hello:
I did try to move this file as you suggested and it didn't work.

You stated in a previous reply that "the download might be incomplete, etc."

I right clicked on the turboprint icon and under properties it stated that Turboprint is 5.6 mb.

If I'm not getting the complete download, what do I do?

I suggest to download again. There are two "servers" listed on the download page - you could choose a different server this time.

I did as you suggested and downloaded the file again.

Everything worked perfectly. Thanks for your time and help.
