password display

Post by jcher »

I begun using Turboprint 2 for Linux a few days ago on SUSE 10.3 to connect to Windows networked printers. When adding or editing a particular printer profile in the "Turboprint - add/edit printer" window, I am asked to supply "Server", "Printer", "Workgroup", "User" and "Password". I am happy to say that all works well, except the password is not masked, open to everyone to see ... Can anyone advise on how to mask the password?

Hello,

thank you for your feedback!
This will be fixed in the next TurboPrint release.

As a workaround you could specify the device uri from command line using

lpadmin -p printer -v smb://user:password@server/printer
