Canon mx300 not printing

Hi,
I have just downloaded the latest deb. package for my linux dist (simplyMEPIS)
It has been installed okay via the synaptic manager and I can see it listed as okay.
Configured my printer as per the manual, but it will not print anything.
Every other dist of linux I have used, I have been able to select the pixma mp150 driver and it worked perfect, but couldn't use the fax as unsupported.
However, MEPIS doesn't list a mp150 driver so I thought I would try turbo print.
If I can get it working I will happily buy it.
Anyone able to help?
