network printing from PowerPC iMac

I have a Canon PIXMA iP1600 connected to a Netgear PS121v2 print server. I had no problem setting up the connection from a PC running Ubuntu 10.04 using TurboPrint 1.96-4. However, I have recently added an old iMac G3 (one of the fruit flavoured all-in-one machines) also running Ubuntu 10.04 to my network. The newest version of the TurboPrint series 1 I could find for the PowerPC is 1.94-4 and I can't figure out the correct choices in the settings dialog of that version of xtpsetup.
In xtpsetup 1.96-4 I have two extra choices for Connection, Remote IPP and other(CUPS URI), the latter of which is the one I use. In 1.94-4 I tried using the Remote Printer choice for connection, but I always get an at sign ('@') between what ever I enter in the dialog boxes for Printer Name and Server Name (including just blanks).
