Printfab causing banding on photos

Post by goblindreams »

Hi,

Got my profiles from ink supplier - was excited to try - colours amazing, unfortunately I'm now getting terrible banding and I mean terrible.

I've tried using my profile, using Print fab profiles - both as bad as each other.

Tried using epson drivers and results are great

Please help, I need the rip software to control ink density :(

Using Et-7750
Tchrome Pigment inks form inkforinkjet
Olmec lustre paper 260gsm
Highest quality print settings

Hello,

print quality with PrintFab and the Epson EcoTank ET-7750 printer was very good during our driver development tests. I did not see any banding in my test prints.

There are several possible explanations for the problems:

1) most likely, the pigment ink that you are using is difficult to handle - maybe larger ink drops should be used as pigment particles are too large. It is possible that the original Epson driver uses a larger drop size.

To verify if increasing the drop size helps, please make test prints with the following settings:
Test 1: select the next lower print quality (2880dpi)
Test 2: select highest print quality, in the PrintFab driver settings, tab "Options" select "Drop size"="2 medium" (this setting is at the end of the list)

2) a larger print head distance ("platen gap") also might help. We are already in contact about this, I will send you the download link for a PrintFab beta version by email.

3) In our experience, banding problems are also very print media specific. Using a different luste paper might help.
