Insufficient opacity on film positives (screen printing)

Post by ttyree »

Gentlemen,
I have purchased a used (good working condition) Epson WorkForce 1100 printer, and I have successfully converted it to all black, dye-based ink.
I have used online tutorials to help me with print settings specific to screen printing (NOT halftones, though, just spot color).
Result: I have been unable to achieve the image opacity necessary on clear film for exposing screens (sample photo attached).
I need to resolve this issue before I purchase PrintFab.
Any tips are appreciated.

I found my own solution when I read in the PrintFab manual under "print mode", that the "Intensity" setting would slow down the printing and lay down more ink. Bingo! I moved that slider up to 200% and viola! I couldn't be happier with the result. See attached pics...

Hello,

thank you for posting the solution.

For all-black ink sets, we recommend to activate "Screen Printing Mode"="Multi black ". In this case, the ink intensity is not set in tab "Main" of the driver settings but in tab "Options" -> "Special settings screen printing":

Your settings work as well but will only use ink from one black ink cartridge.
