Fixing colour balance on Ubuntu

I'm sure this question has been asked before, unfortunately the board search doesn't allow the terms 'colour' and 'profile' as they are too common!
I am trying to print photos on an Epson ET2750 from Ubuntu 21.10.
By default, the print is hugely over-saturated with strong contrast and lost detail.
In TurboPrint I can create a printer profile which reduces the print saturation by setting a lower ink limit.
The ink limit setting appears to make no difference to the printed output.
In the print dialog from the program e.g. PDF viewer, GIMP, has a print color profile pull-down but it is greyed out.
What is the best way to adjust the colour balance for the TP driver so that all applications can output the right colours?
