Canon MX-310 Can't print greyscale

Post by jayweitekamp »

I've looked all over the settings but nowhere to be found is the option to print in greyscale. I'm using the printfab driver to communication via LPR to a Netgear DPR-1260 and all is fine printing in color .. Any Help

Hello,

the setting is in the print dialog, section "PrintFab Settings", tab "Color":

Mode = "Grayscale" (black ink only)
or
Mode = "Gray Photo" (uses a bit of CMY color inks for smoother dithering)

thanks, it was hidden under a tab of the application name (i.e printing from firefox there was a pulldown called firefox)

one last question, is there a way to have the queue/drivers default to greyscale instead of me having to purposely select it each time I print

Hello,

please change the default in TurboPrint Control -> "Configure".

Some applications use the "root" printer configuration defaults instead of the user defaults (especially on older Linux distributions).

To change the root defaults, start TurboPrint Control from a terminal windows with

sudo turboprint

is turbo print the same as PrintFab? I have a printfab toolbox under the applications folder in my mac but no turboprint. the printfab toolbox doesn't allow me to set the default color to greyscale

Please excuse the mistake - TurboPrint is our printer driver for Linux.

For PrintFab you could create a "preset" for greyscale printing - see the PrintFab PDF manual, page 32 "Creating Printer Presets".
